1492: Conquest of Paradise
release year:1992 genre:advanture/drama viewing setting:home laserdisc, 8/3/99 what I expected:wasn't sure what I got:a long, slow "epic" adventure
synopsis:In the late 1400s, when nobody wants to accept that the world was round, explorer Christopher Columbus sets out to prove that there is land beyond the ocean.
impressions:It started out good, with a sense of purpose and a wide scope. It bogged down, though; the accents made it hard to understand what the hell was going on at times. Also, the logic of some of the characters defied sensibility.
acting:Gerard Depardieu did fine, but all in all, nobody really stood out for me here.
final word:Epic in scope but boring in places.
