28 Days Later

release year: 2003
genre: horror
viewing setting: theater, 8/9/03

synopsis: A man wakes up in the hospital to find that everyone is either dead or a violent zombie.

impressions: This was a zombie flick with a British twist (in that all characters and settings were in England.) It had good scare moments and also the usual staple of "living dead" films: survivors fight each other rather than the monsters and end up dying. I don't have much else to say about the movie - it was original enough and spooky enough that I enjoyed it.

things to watch for: The mass zombie attack on the stronghold.

something this movie has that no other movie has: A character dumb enough to look upward at the exact wrong time.

acting: There were a total of five protagonist leads, plus a dozen mostly-generic bad-guy soldiers. The guy who woke up in the hospital and the older woman were the best of the former, though the little girl did a good job too. Only one or two of the soldiers stood out to me.

final word: Worth seeing for fans of zombie movies or just good scary ones.
