The Three Musketeers

release year: 1973
genre: comedy/adventure
viewing setting: home DVD, 5/11/99
what I expected: wasn't sure
what I got: fairly funny comedic entertainment

synopsis: Those wacky musketeers are at it again, having adventures and saving the Queen's dignity in the face of the evil Cardinal.

impressions: This was a VERY light-hearted romp...it had swordfights, duels, mass battles, and all that, but the tone was light and hardly anyone died. In fact, this felt more like a pilot for a TV series. There was a good deal of comedy, too.

acting: Oliver Reed was the funniest, overall. Raquel Welch was easy on the eyes.

the good: humor, action

the bad: maybe slightly too flippant

final word: worthwhile adventure viewing, suitable for kids

rating: C+
