American Wedding

release year: 2003
genre: comedy
viewing setting: home Bluray 6/30/24 and home DVD 2/7/04

synopsis: Jim and Michelle are getting married, and the entire process is fraught with mishaps.

impressions: Funny, but this franchise has definitely played itself out. Much like the last one, the only parts I found truly funny had the Stifler character in them, and even so, they weren't all as funny this time. There was a gross-out moment (or two) that topped anything seen in the last two movies. Also notable was a sort of redemption for Stifler.

something this movie has that no other movie has: the chocolate truffle that wasn't

acting: Jason Biggs and Eugene Levy again do a good job as the ultimate dork and dad combination; the son is finally on the path to happiness but still makes questionable decisions that lead him into ridiculous and embarassing situations. Alyson Hannigan is his wife-to-be whose wild side hides under the dork appearance. Eddie Kaye Thomas is the good friend who's more cultured than the others. Seann William Scott is the obnoxious, offensive one who now finds serious downsides to his behavior. Thomas Ian Nicholas is the other good friend, who doesn't have as much to do here. Eric Allan Kramer is someone they all meet while trying to get everything right for the wedding.

final word: Worth seeing, and as good an ending to this franchise as we'll get (that was the plan, it seemed, in 2003 before the bunch of further sequels.)
