Apollo 18

"Fate has ordained... the men who went to the moon to explore in peace, remain on the moon to rest in peace."   - Commander Walker

release year: 2011
genre: space drama/horror
viewing setting: home Bluray 11/11/16

synopsis: In 1972, the government secretly executes another moon landing mission, but not for the right reasons.

impressions: Although I'd been avoiding it for years because it looked cheap and didn't get great reviews, this one finally got watched after being spotted in the $4 rack at Target. As it turned out, the movie wasn't bad at all. I don't want to spoil too much, but this is a good entertaining space movie with a scary angle. There's definitely something else up there, and it's not friendly. This is a found-footage style movie which is both good (it's simple to follow) and bad (shaky camera work, unanswered questions due to everything being from the astronauts' point of view.)

acting: Warren Christie is the astronaut who kind of takes lead after things start to go wrong. Lloyd Owen is the commander, who's also the first casualty. Ryan Robbins is the one left behind in orbit. Only two other voices appear in the entire movie.

final word: Good scary space movie, definitely worth seeing once.
