The A-Team: The Rabbit Who Are Las Vegas

episode number: season 1, episode 6 (1983)
viewing setting: home DVD, 6/16/04

episode synopsis: The team is hired to go to Vegas and rescue a professor who found a formula to win at the casinos.

impressions: This was the Vegas mob episode. They impersonate an old, powerful casino mobster and his entourage and hold their own against the most powerful man in Vegas, but then run into additional problems. Hannibal's multiple roles (especially the gangster and the government agent) are pretty funny.

notable guest star: Charles Cioffi (who has had many TV appearances, including an FBI chief in The X-Files) plays the head mobster. Tracy Scoggins has an early-in-her-career role as a high-class call girl.

what the team builds in this episode: nothing, though B.A. bypasses a high-tech elevator security system

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: sitting across the mob boss' desk, at gunpoint, he takes one of the guy's cigars and asks for a light

B.A. toughness highlight: when the head valet comes over to get the van out of the way, B.A. scowls at him, and the van stays where it is

Murdock insanity highlight: walks down a runway at a major airport, trying to hitch a ride

Face scam highlight: poses as a newlywed (with Amy) to get into a room from which he can provide sniper fire

Amy usefulness highlight: assists Face in his newlywed scam; on a general note, I've noticed that Amy's role is threefold: 1) as an attractive female, she can help out with many of the team's deceptions, 2) as a reporter, she can do research and end up with scoops on big stories, and 3) she often asks questions or brings up points that echo what the viewer is thinking
