The A-Team: The White Ballot

episode number: season 2, episode 11 (1983)
viewing setting: home DVD, 7/5/05

episode synopsis: The team takes on a corrupt sheriff in a small town.

impressions: I found this to be a really weak episode. For one thing, the overall plan was far too elaborate considering that all they needed to do was oust some crooked cops. For another thing, the excuse/method for building what they built seemed silly. On the bright side, Face got to be a politician and Hannibal got to talk back to not one but two authority figures.

notable guest star: Clifton James, who plays the evil sheriff, was perhaps better-known as the redneck sheriff character in Live and Let Die.

what the team builds in this episode: A crane-held iron ball from which a grease gun can be fired.

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: He plays it tough with both the sheriff and Col. Decker.

B.A. toughness highlight: Does most of the fighting in the gambling hall.

Murdock insanity highlight: pretends to be a cameraman

Face scam highlight: pretends to be a political candidate

Amy usefulness highlight: digs up a false identity for Face to use while running for sheriff
