The A-Team: The Battle of Bel-Air

episode number: season 2, episode 14 (1984)
viewing setting: home DVD, 7/10/05

episode synopsis: The team gets involved with a female reporter who turns out to be a target of a security firm chief who's planning an assassination.

impressions: This was the episode with the helicopter chase where one was firing rockets and the other had an M60 manned by Hannibal. On the downside, this was also the episode where they tried to introduce a new female character. I thought it didn't work - she was too eager, and didn't seem to have a lot to offer the team. Another glaring fallacy in this episode: a helicopter crashes into the side of a cliff, yet all bad guys inside walk out alive. Bulls***.

notable guest star: Kurtwood Smith, who was the number-one evil henchman in Robocop, plays the number-one evil hanchman here.

what the team builds in this episode: A gun mount for a helicopter. It should be noted that they apparently carry this mount (as well as an arc welder) around in their van.

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: Marches into the head bad guy's office and makes all kinds of threats.

B.A. toughness highlight: Just the usual menacing glare and harsh words.

Murdock insanity highlight: Nothing comes to mind, though he had some really strange facial expressions during the helicopter chase.

Face scam highlight: Immediately makes a play for the reporter.
