The A-Team: Chopping Spree

episode number: season 2, episode 18 (1984)
viewing setting: home DVD, 7/14/05

episode synopsis: The team puts Face's Corvette out as bait for a car-theft ring...but they take B.A.'s van instead.

impressions: Pretty simple episode, with a side plot thrown in just because the chop-shop plot wasn't enough. This one was good for B.A. getting really mad.

notable guest star: Dennis Franz, who plays the head of the used-car dealership that's supplying the chop shop with victims, later played the brash airport police captain in Die Hard 2. Ken Foree, who played the chop-shop boss here, is most famous for playing one of the human protagonists in the original Dawn of the Dead.

what the team builds in this episode: When time's short and they need to infiltrate a funeral, they modify a hearse to add a pop-up coffin (from which Murdock jumps out firing a machine gun.)

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: Disguises himself as a British Rock star so he can pretend to want to buy six limosuines.

B.A. toughness highlight: Gets to show pure rage as he tries to find his van.

Murdock insanity highlight: Has a little potted plant that he gets worried about when it gets stolen along with the van.

Face scam highlight: Pretends to be a car salesman, and actually does a good job, at the bad guy's dealership.

Tawnia usefulness highlight: Serves as eye candy for Face when he goes to lunch and leaves his car in the parking lot as bait for the thieves.
