The A-Team: Bullets and Bikinis

episode number: season 3, episode 1 (1984)
viewing setting: home DVD, 2/1/06

episode synopsis: Two sisters hire the team to stop a mobster from taking over their hotel.

impressions: This episode was an excuse to get the team to the beach (Miami, to be exact.) Both B.A.'s van and Face's Corvette are absent from this episode, as is any female 5th member of the team. There was a good surveillance trick involving a tape recorder.

notable guest star: Betsy Russell, who played the main female lead in the horror classic Cheerleader Camp, is one of the sisters.

what the team builds in this episode: Well, it took them until after the 37-minute mark to do it, but after being locked in the tool room of a construction site, they somehow built a machine-gun-like weapon that fired metal bolts, and a mortar that fired little canisters of gas. Amazing (not that they accomplished this, but that the writers thought the viewers would believe it.)

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: He lets himself get captured by the mobsters, then taunts them in their office and gets beat up, just to trick them into revealing some information.

B.A. toughness highlight: Throws a goon over a car.

Murdock insanity highlight: Goes into full beach mode, complete with Hawaiian shirt and singing of beach songs. He also takes a lot of pictures with a Polaroid camera.

Face scam highlight: Uses a dentist he knows to get B.A. sedated for the flight to Miami, takes over day-to-day operations of the hotel and then flirts with every female employee and guest.
