The A-Team: The Heart of Rock N' Roll

episode number: season 4, episode 5 (1985)
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/12/07

episode synopsis: The team helps Rick James protect a jailed musician whose life is in danger even though he's a day away from parole.

impressions: This one was a mixed bag. I liked the underlying story, but the bad guys' plot was a little unrealistic, and watching people dance to Rick James music is always difficult. We get FOUR songs performed in this one, two by Rick James and two by Isaac Hayes.

notable guest star: By now it should be obvious: Rick James and Isaac Hayes. Hayes turns in an especially good, serious performance here.

what the team builds in this episode: Nothing, though they get locked in the workshop and end up using a welding torch to escape.

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: While posing as an old cripple, he turns the tables on his attackers.

B.A. toughness highlight: None, but he delivers an inspiring speech to Isaac Hayes' character.

Murdock insanity highlight: Thinks he's a soul brother.

Face scam highlight: Plays a moron assistant to Hannibal as they search for power (and other things) in the jail.
