The A-Team: The Doctor is Out

episode number: season 4, episode 10 (1985)
viewing setting: home DVD, 4/4/07

episode synopsis: When Murdock's doctor is kidnapped by military types, the team heads to South America to find him.

impressions: It was strange, but still a good episode. There were some unusual or confusing elements (Murdock getting injected with a mysterious drug for no apparent reason, and the female character who claims many different identities) that either went nowhere or made no sense. Once again, the team gets captured due to taking it easy on the bad guys, and then has to work their way out of a jam to escape and fight the same bad guys a second time. Such is life in the A-Team, I guess.

notable guest star: Richard Anderson, who played Oscar Goldman in The Six Million Dollar Man, is the kidnapped doctor here. Geoffrey Lewis, who played many roles in Clint Eastwood movies and other action movies and westerns, is the head bad guy here.

what the team builds in this episode: Nothing, but they find an old helicopter and get it working so that Murdock and his doctor can drop grenades on the bad guys.

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: Smarts off to the renegade military officer, also ditches the woman when she proves to be unreliable.

B.A. toughness highlight: Punches out some bad guys; you have to love the 1970s/1980s, when a single punch was enough to dispose of a stock bad guy.

Murdock insanity highlight: None, but he has some interesting conversations with his doctor.

Face scam highlight: Secures the use of a nice beach house.
