Atomic Blonde

"Did you really think I was going to give you that list? Before you die, I want you to get this through that thick, primitive skull. I never worked for you. I worked for me. Every false intel I gave you, a rip in the iron curtain. Every piece of intel you gave me, a bullet in my fucking gun. I want my life back."   - Lorraine

release year: 2017
genre: espionage drama/action
viewing setting: home Bluray 11/18/17

synopsis: In 1989, a super-secret agent is sent behind the Berlin Wall to recover some important film, but nothing is really what it seems - except that she's lethal.

impressions: This is Charlize Theron's John Wick - a movie filled with dramatic moments and violent fighting, but also with some surprises. I can't discuss it much without revealing things you should find for yourself when watching, but to sum it up: Cold War spy thriller with brutally realistic fights.

acting: Charlize Theron is the super-competent, super-dangerous protagonist. James McAvoy is her British counterpart, and he's a real weasel. Toby Jones is her snotty superior officer. Sofia Boutella is a novie French spy. John Goodman is a CIA agent who's involved in all this.

final word: Quite entertaining, but you do have to pay attention.
