Avalanche Sharks

release year: 2014
genre: shark cheese
viewing setting: home DVD, 7/24/21

synopsis: Some magical sharks are released by an avalanche, which is bad news for tourist season on the mountain.

impressions: It tried...at times. But it also knew what it was, and poked fun at itself. One example was the story-within-a-story format, which ragged on the senseless plot of the main/inner story. Some features of this insane mashup of parts included: the lamest spring breakers ever (their idea of a party was to gather around a fire and jump up and down), the token crazy old guy warning of doom, a cast of young characters who all look the same, random shark appearances and disappearances, the stereotypical crooked and selfish resort owner, a snow machine that ends up spitting out red snow after one shark attack, a random Japanese girl whose random actions are crucial to the plot (or lack of it), a second avalanche, and a demented ending. And also...get ready for it...this movie contains a long scene of SHARKS FLYING THROUGH SPACE.

body count: 16 (14 by shark)

acting: Kate Nauta (who was the female assassin in Transporter 2 is one of the main protagonists here.

final word: Bad shark cheese, worth seeing once for silliness value.
