Battlestar Galactica, episode 13: The Living Legend, part 2

release year: 1978
genre: sci-fi
viewing setting: home DVD 2/10/13

synopsis: Cain and Adama must put aside their differences and join forces to stop three Cylon base ships.

impressions: This was pretty much an all-action second part, with both space battles and a mission where six humans infiltrate a planet run by Cylons. This episode does a good job of building on the legend of Commander Cain and his ship, and by the end, their mythic status in canon is secure. This is part two of a two-part super-episode.

acting: I won't discuss the series regulars, but rather the new characters introduced here: Lloyd Bridges is outstanding as a grizzled old war hero whose best defense is a good offense. Anne Lockhart is his daughter, who's also a great fighter pilot.

final word: Good space-battle two-parter from this series.
