Heavy Metal: Blackbird Stealth

release year: 2004
genre: documentary
viewing setting: home DVD, 5/30/20

synopsis: This is a one-episode history of the SR-71 Blackbird stealth plane.

impressions: Like all documentaries from the History Channel (and the National Geographic Channel, and the Discovery Channel, and the Smithsonian Channel...) this one was well-made, thorough, and entertaining. It covered the reasons the plane was designed and built, the challenges involved in that, and some of the capabilities and missions. There were also some interviews with support staff and crew.

acting: n/a but there are plenty of footage clips and re-creations of historical events, plus the interviews. The narration was good, as always with these.

final word: Good, brief, informative documentary about this amazing stealth plane.
