Black Panther
"You're a good man with a good heart. And it's hard for a good man to be king." - T'Chaka
release year: 2018
genre: superhero action/drama
viewing setting: home Bluray 5/20/18
synopsis: The young prince of a remote, super-advanced African nation doubles as the super-powered Black Panther.
impressions: This isn't as much an origin story as a continuation of some events from Civil War, including some new challenges. It was well-done and entertaining, although you have to suspend your disbelief that a tiny country can be so advanced yet stay hidden for so long.
acting: Chadwick Boseman does a good job as the prince and hero, who must deal with various threats and challenges. Michael B. Jordan is the angry citizen-turned-soldier-turned-usurper who wants to rule Wakanda himself. Lupita Nyong'o is his right-hand woman, a formidible soldier. Danai Gurira is another warrior-woman, who leads the all-female special forces of Wakanda. Martin Freeman is a CIA guy who ends up helping the Wakandans. Letitia Wright is a teenaged super-scientist.
final word: Good almost-stand-alone Marvel superhero movie.
