Brooklyn Nine-Nine, season 2 (23 episodes)

release year: 2014-2015
genre: TV comedy series
viewing setting: home Bluray, 7/16-23/2022

synopsis: This series follows the misadventures of a team of detectives in Brooklyn.

impressions: More of the same, and I loved it. It's somewhat more serious comedy, combining a cast of quirky characters with challenges both in their day-to-day work and their personal lives (which are often intertwined.) This second season both builds on some events that came before...and introduces new characters. Highlights include Jake's relationship with a defense attorney, romance between Charles and Gina's single parents, more potential for Jake and Amy to date, and the attempts to oust Captain Holt. This is currently my go-to comedy series when I feel the need to laugh in 22-minute doses.

acting: Andy Samberg is the main guy - the center of most shenanigans, but also one of the top detectives. Stephanie Beatriz is a tough, serious, often angry detective. Terry Crews is their gigantic, imposing sergeant. Melissa Fumero is an eager, neurotic member of the team who has feelings for Jake. Joe Lo Truglio is a rather weird one. Chelsea Peretti is an alternatingly annoying and funny lazy civilian member. Andre Braugher is the serious, usually-unreadable captain. Dirk Blocker and Joel Miller are the odd older guys on the squad.

final word: Good light police comedy show that's consistently funny.
