Brooklyn Nine-Nine, season 7 (13 episodes)

release year: 2020
genre: TV comedy series
viewing setting: home Bluray, 10/16-19/2023

synopsis: This series follows the misadventures of a team of detectives in Brooklyn.

impressions: This season deals with, among other things: Captain Holt's demotion to patrolman, possible children for the newly-married couple, a new captain who's too nice to be believed, Pimento's memory problems, an annual competition within the squad, the insane plans of a corrupt officer, challenges getting pregnant while the guinea pigs hidden in the precinct have no such problems, an unexpected death and memorial service, a con man's bachelor party, a prank gone wrong, Jake's grandfather, the annual Halloween heist, the kidnapping of the chief's dog, and a power outage that coincides with someone going into labor.

acting: As mentioned before, I won't repeat all the things I've said before about the various characters. It's a good group and they've really come together as a funny and commencted ensemble cast. At this point, late in the series, I think my favorite character may actually be Andre Braugher's Captain Holt; his logical, analytical, deadpan actions and words are consistently funny. And another reason this season was great was the complete absence of the Gina character (played by Chelsea Peretti) along with her intentional uselessness and use of social media.

final word: Good light police comedy show that's consistently funny and has formed long-term staying power after seven seasons and over a hundred episodes.
