Brooklyn Nine-Nine, season 8 (10 episodes)

release year: 2021
genre: TV comedy series
viewing setting: home Bluray 10/22/2023

synopsis: This series follows the misadventures of a team of detectives in Brooklyn.

impressions: It's the final season, and like any great series, they managed to keep the entire core cast (even the annoying ones) for the whole run. This season started out with some woke elements, which is unfortunate, but they are trying to make the point that the events of 2020-2021 happened and each person has to deal with them in their own way. The real meat of this season happens at the end, by which time some characters have left the squad, some have moved on/up, yet they're all still friends and make each other better. The finale is a 2-part heist episode in which it quickly becomes impossible to even guess what's going on. Overall, this was quite an enjoyable series and well worth owning and re-watching.

acting: As mentioned before, I won't repeat all the things I've said before about the various characters. It's a good group and they've really come together as a funny and commencted ensemble cast. It was quite disheartening that the most annoying character on the show got to return for a few episodes; this character, Gina (played by Chelsea Peretti) adds sarcasm and undeserved success that I personally felt never really fit in. Then again, it's not my show, so I just had to deal with her even though every word she said made me cringe.

final word: Great, funny police/drama series with plenty of unique and quirky characters.
