Burj Khalifa: Dubai's Vertical City

release year: 2011
genre: documentary
viewing setting: home streaming 3/19/23

synopsis: This documentary shows the final stages of the construction and preparation of the world's tallest building.

impressions: It's half a mile high, and has over 160 actual floors. And this is a look at the last week or so before it opened some of its apartments and restaurant. We get a look into the lives and jobs of: the restaurant manager, a billionaire who owns the entire 100th floor, the lady in charge of all the cleaning crews, and a rich couple who seem to have more expensive art than their new living place has space. This gives a good look at the building and the challenges of a modern skyscraper - as well as what it's like to live and work inside one.

acting: n/a but the primary interviewees were all fairly well fleshed-out in the time allotted.

final word: Pretty cool documentary about this building that really is a city unto itself.
