Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter

release year: 1973
genre: vampire horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 12/12/03

synopsis: A swashbuckling vampire hunter and his professor helper must rid a small town of a youth-sucking vampire.

impressions: Pretty good. This was an early 1970s Hammer vampire film with a different sort of vampire. The settings and music are good, and it's pretty creepy at times.

things to watch for: Good swordfight at 1:23 into the movie.

something this movie has that no other movie has: A vampire that drains youth, not blood, from its victims.

acting: The guy who played Kronos was quiet in a weird sort of way. The guy who played Professor Grost was entertaining and had good vampire-hunting tactics. Caroline Munro (who later was a semi-Bond girl) was cute as a girl who latches onto Kronos and follows him around.

final word: Different, but good.
