Clash of the Titans

release year: 2010
genre: fantasy action/adventure
viewing setting: home DVD, 9/26/10

synopsis: A young and unwilling demigod gets involved in disputes between gods, as well as disputes between gods and mortals.

impressions: It was pretty entertaining, though not perfect. The main issue I had was that you can't just take a young fisherman - no matter how brave he is - and throw him into battles and believe it when he isn't killed. They should have given him a long, arduous period of training to show how he gained fighting skill. Also, the "drama" between the various gods served to remind the viewer that they're flawed too. Anyway, this has plenty of fighting and a number of fantastic, terrifying monsters. Good stuff.

something this movie has that no other movie has: Blood drops that spawn giant scorpions.

acting: Sam Worthington is Perseus, who's young and angry at the gods. Jason Flemyng is Calibos, a monstrous antagonist. Gemma Atherton is Io, a mysterious woman who helps Perseus. Liam Neeson is Zeus, king of the gods. Ralph Fieness is Hades, who secretly plots against Zeus.

final word: Pretty good, worth seeing.
