Crank

release year: 2006
genre: action
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/2/07

synopsis: An assassin wakes up to find that he's been poisoned and is dying, but that the process will be slowed by the flow of adrenaline.

impressions: This movie was horrible, and that's saying something since I'm a sucker for dumb action movies. The soundtrack was bad (lots of bass/techno)...the camera work was bad (jumped around a lot, on purpose no less!)...the plot had all kinds of foolishness (including an outlandish public love scene and an utterly clueless female character.) I think the movie tried to be a lot of things, and tried to have a sense of "style"...but it just didn't work.

something this movie has that no other movie has: A guy making a cell phone call while taking 30 seconds to fall to his death from an altitude of perhaps 50 stories above the ground.

acting: Jason Statham should know better than this. Amy Smart plays a well-meaning but incredibly naive girlfriend.

final word: Urrrrrgh.
