Daredevil (season 2)

"You hit 'em and they get back up, I hit 'em and they stay down."    - the Punisher

release year: 2016
genre: action/drama (TV series)
viewing setting: home Bluray 11/12-27/17

synopsis: Lawyer Matt Murdock (and his alter-ego, Daredevil) must deal with a murderous vigilante, corrupt city officials, the imprisoned Kingpin, his lethal ex-girlfriend, and an army of ninja.

impressions: Basically more of the same (poor decisions, or indecision, leading to bad things happening) but with a couple of new elements that were really entertaining. The first was Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, who guns down criminals with no mercy but is actually a much more complex character that is first apparent. The second was Elektra, who fights to win and may also be a little crazy. Also returning for some episodes were blind martial-arts sage Stick and the scheming Kingpin. All in all, it was a good season, though there were several teases to the third season, and Daredevil still got the crap beat out of him on a regular basis.

acting: Not much has changed since the first season - those characters are still basically the same people. The major new additions are Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Elodie Yung as Elektra.

final word: Grim and violent street-level superhero drama.
