Dark City

release year: 1998
genre: weird
viewing setting: theater, 2/28/98
what I expected: something dark and gloomy
what I got: a weird little mystery/sci-fi story with tons of atmosphere and some good plot twists

synopsis: A man wakes up with some really good reasons to question the (dark and confusing) reality he lives in every day.

impressions: Weird. That describes the directing style, the plot, the camera work, the characters - everything. It made me think, and at the same time it made me wonder what the hell was going on. All in all, it was an interesting concept, done probably as well as possible. Warning: you need to pay attention in order to understand.

acting: Decent. Lots of oddball, low-verbage characters here.

final word: Weird, but entertaining.

rating: C
