Deadpool and Wolverine
"You know what we need to do? We need to build a f***ing team. We need 'em tough, morally flexible, and young enough so they can carry this franchise ten to twelve years." - Deadpool
release year: 2024
genre: superhero comedy/action
viewing setting: home streaming 10/12/24
synopsis: Deadpool must save his universe from destruction, which means finding a Wolverine variant who can help him do the job, and then going up against a really powerful villain.
impressions: This movie tied the Deadpool (and by extention, at least partially, the X-Men) universe to the main Marvel cinematic universe. It was also balls-out crazy. This thing jumped through multiple parallel worlds, referenced a whole bunch of comic and movie elements, was chock-full of blood and gore and adult jokes. Insanity.
acting: A number of past characters return (mostly in minor roles) and there are some new ones, but this movie really belongs to Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the two main characters. At first they are confused, then they fight a lot, and finally they work together for their common good.
final word: This Deadpool tops the previous two as far as the "completely bonkers" factor.
