Django

release year: 1966
genre: western
viewing setting: home DVD, 10/4/09

synopsis: A mysterious gunsligner drags a coffin around and plans revenge.

impressions: I liked it. It was good and violent, with a heavy revenge theme and some nice surprises. The dubbing was pretty heavy and the subtitles weren't well done, but the picture quality was nice (this DVD came from a newly-discovered print.)

something this movie has that no other movie has: the aforementioned coffin

acting: Franco Nero does a good job (they actually had to use makeup to make him look older!) as a lethal gunfighter motivated by only one thing. Eduardo Fajardo is the object of revenge. Loredana Nusciak is a woman who Django rescues, and who falls for him.

final word: Good gritty western.
