Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story

"The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering."   - Bruce Lee

release year: 1993
genre: martial arts/drama
viewing setting: home Bluray 2/18/22 and home DVD, 1/20/18 and 8/12/13 and 4/22/09 and 11/16/00 and home laserdisc 8/7/98

synopsis: This is a fairly accurate and family-approved biographical action movie based on the life of Bruce Lee.

impressions: This was a well-paced movie with both facts and fiction. It's also got a fair measure of action, and the fight and stunt work is superior. From Bruce Lee's boyhood on the streets of Hong Kong to his relationship with his wife and kids to his problems as a Hollywood star, this movie depicts it all.

something this movie has that no other movie has: someone shattering blocks of ice with his fists

acting: Jason Scott Lee (no relation) does an outstanding job as Bruce Lee; he's got the mannerisms down. Lauren Holly also does a great job as Linda, Bruce's wife. Fine work by both leads.

final word: More than a biography, and more than a martial arts movie. Superior.
