Escape From Alcatraz: The Real Story

release year:  2010
genre: documentary
viewing setting: home DVD 9/7/13

synopsis: This Smithsonian Channel documentary explores the background of the Alcatraz prison and the men who escaped from it in 1962, then tries to determine the odds of them actually living through the final leg of that escape.

impressions: This is a great documentary that covers all the angles. They use modern recreations of the raft and flotation devices and try to get off the island, which sort of gives you an idea of the actual odds that the guys made it back in 1962.

acting: n/a but the narration is clean, crisp, and intelligent

final word: Great documentary, worth watching as the second part of a double feature with Escape From Alcatraz.
