Eye See You

release year: 2002
genre: suspense
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/3/03

synopsis: After failing to catch a brutal killer, a cop loses himself in booze, then goes to a remote detox facility for strung-out cops...and after they get snowed in, the murders begin.

impressions: Not bad. While a far cry from Stallone's heyday as an ass-kicking action mega-hero, this is a good, tightly-wound whodunit set in an isolated location. It kind of reminded me of John Carpenter's The Thing except with a killer rather than a monster. One gripe: the place looked fishy to me right from the start, and I seriously doubt that anyone, even shell-shocked cops, would want to stay there for any length of time.

acting: This is the intense but not indestructible Stallone. Kris Kristofferson, Tom Berenger, and Charles Dutton were good in supporting roles.

final word: Pretty suspenseful mystery thriller.
