Fever Pitch

release year: 2005
genre: sports comedy
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/24/05

synopsis: Standard love story with a twist: the man is a rabid Red Sox fan, and the woman has to figure out how to deal with it.

impressions: This was fairly entertaining. I love baseball and, while I don't love it quite this much, I can sympathize with the story (actually, I do love softball this much, and a lot of the conflicts here have appeared in my life over the years.) A bonus was the way the movie followed the Sox' 2004 season, with its ups and downs, and had actual footage from some games.

something this movie has that no other movie has: A bedroom with Red Sox apparel everywhere.

acting: Jimmy Fallon was good as the obsessed fan who can't help himself. Drew Barrymore was the up-and-coming executive who learns to love the Red Sox (but not quite that much.)

final word: Good movie for a date or similar event.
