Firestorm

release year: 1998
genre: action/adventure
viewing setting: home laserdisc, 7/3/98
what I expected: firefighting cheese
what I got: the best forest-fighter-fighting-criminals movie ever made

synopsis: A forest fire is set to cover a jailbreak, and it's up to fire-jumper Howie Long to save the day.

impressions: Stupid bad guys. That's what this movie had, as they all unwittingly followed William Forsythe to their doom. Anyway. It had some good fire scenes, a few plot implausibilities, and decent action and pacing. Howie Long needed more lines...or perhaps not.

acting: William Forsythe did well as the homicidal head criminal; nothing else was remarkable.

final word: Basic action fare.

rating: C-
