The Fly

release year: 1986
genre: sci-fi/horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 5/10/03

synopsis: A brilliant scientist working on human teleportation accidentally merges himself with a fly, resulting in a gradual mutation into something really nasty.

impressions: Outstanding. This is a great example of sci-fi horror done right. It's easy to care about the characters, especially the main one since he's so quirky. There's a good premise, strong acting, and lots of gory special effects.

acting: Jeff Goldblum does a great job as the scientist who means well but can't see what's happening to him until it's too late and he's become dangerous. Geena Davis is also strong as the love interest who gets in over her head.

final word: Good movie, worth seeing.
