Friday the 13th part 9: Jason Goes to Hell
release year: 1993
viewing setting: home DVD, 12/19/02
synopsis: Since homicidal manaic Jason Voorhees can't die, he embarks upon yet another murder spree.
impressions: This is one of those that completely ignores the preceding installment's ending (not that said ending made any sense.) The writers introduce some kind of evil magic subplot to the series, something really stupid involving family members and magic daggers. I suspect that this was just an excuse to allow cheaper filming costs. Oh yeah, Jason's basic form is revealed as a slug-like creature.
things to watch for: Jason's assault on the diner was pretty entertaining.
acting: Decent, but when the script is this silly, acting doesn't matter much.
final word: For fans of the series only - to anyone else, this movie won't make much sense.
