Mad Max: Furiosa

"You fabulous thing. You crawled out of a pitiless grave, deeper than hell. Only one thing that is going to do that for you. Not hope. Hate. No shame in hate. It's one of the greatest forces of nature."    - Dementus

release year: 2024
genre: post-apocalyptic road battle action
viewing setting: theater 6/6/24

synopsis: In the post-apocalyptic wasteland, a young girl is taken from her home and grows up to become a tough road warrior.

impressions: This wasn't quite the non-stop action thrill ride that Fury Road was, but it was a solid and effective prequel. It focuses on the Fusiosa character and the rise to power of Immortan Joe (the main villain from the other movie.) I'd recommend watching this one and THEN watching the other.

acting: Anya Taylor-Joy does a great job portraying a young warrior-woman who is learning as she survives. Alyla Browne is the younger version. Chris Hemsworth is the half-insane warlord and primary antagonist. Tom Burke is a veteran driver who teaches Furiosa. There are a dozen or more lesser supporting roles of note.

something this movie has that no other movie has: A war pup (weird-looking child pained white) operating a secret weapon within a giant war rig.

final word: Good, entertaining prequel with plenty of villains and action.
