Gator Lake
release year: 2025
genre: monster mayhem
viewing setting: home streaming 10/21/25
synopsis: A big escaped alligator terrorizes a lake community.
impressions: Also known as Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher's Revenge, this movie had surprisingly high production values and decent acting considering we found it among a line of monster movies on a streaming service. I also want to note that the name "Bonecrusher" could have referred to the main hero Bubba too, as he had massive arms and never once wore anything with sleeves. Anyway. There were five alligator kills here, and a surprising amount of human drama. Things took a weird twist near the end, as Bonecrusher - I mean Bubba - made an unusual choice for bait to lure the giant gator in. Overall, though, this one was a lot better than I expected it to be.
acting: Derek Russo is the big, buff hero whose deal to kill the gator is the key to his future. Sarah Voigt is some woman he knows, who walks around in sandals and carries a rifle. Jeff Benninghoffen is the evil business owner. Michael Houston King is the slimy mayor. Essex O'Brien is a fairly mellow fish and wildlife officer.
final word: Fairly well-made and surprisingly entertaining.
