Geostorm

release year: 2017
genre: apocalypse disaster sci-fi/drama
viewing setting: home streaming 3/3/23

synopsis: In the near future, the world is protected by a series of orbiting satellites that keep the weather in check...until something goes wrong.

impressions: This was fairly entertaining; once you get past the idea that a huge orbiting space station controls hundreds of satellites that keep the world safe, it's possible to sit back and enjoy it. There's human drama, some plotting, a whole lot of deadly weather effects, and even space travel. This was pretty good escapist adventure.

acting: Gerard Butler is the older brother who designed the whole system and then got let go. Jim Sturgess is his younger brother who's now risen in the politics world. Abbie Cornish his his girlfriend, whose Secret Service job will come in handy as events unfold. Andy Garcia is the President, and Ed Harris is his Secretary of State. Alexandra Maria Lara is the commander of the space station. Zazie Beetz is a super-hacker.

final word: Good sci-fi/action/disaster fun.
