Ghost in the Shell

release year: 1995
genre: animated sci-fi/action
viewing setting: home Bluray 2/9/22

synopsis: In the near future, the lines have become blurred between flesh and technology, and peoples' bodies can be hacked and taken over by others.

impressions: This was groundbreaking, in both the concepts and the animation. It was also a bit confusing and will probably require multiple viewings to fully comprehend. The gist seems to be that an artificially-created consciousness seeks to become more human. This movie inspired a number of other moviemakers (mostly in the cyberpunk/Matrix realm) but I've never been a fan of this genre. For me, the jury's still out, and I may need to investigate further.

acting: n/a, but the voice acting is solid. Note that the Japanese audio subtitles doesn't match the English audio track.

final word: Revolutionary, yet complex and sometimes confusing sci-fi/drama/action.
