The Godfather Part III

Vincent Mancini: "Don Lucchesi, you are a man of finance and politics. These things I don't understand."
Don Lucchesi: "You understand guns?"
Vincent Mancini: "Yes."
Don Lucchesi: "Finance is a gun. Politics is knowing when to pull the trigger."

release year: 1990
genre: drama
viewing setting: home Bluray 5/9/23

synopsis: The story advances to the late 1970s, with Michael trying to make the family business fully legal and clean...which is a problem for all his partners.

impressions: This third installment was good, but not up to the level of the previous two. A new young hothead is introduced, along with a plan that would make Michael one of the richest and most powerful men in the world, if it succeeds. As always, there are enemies everywhere...and as always, early death is a fact of life in this world and this family.

acting: Al Pacino is back, playing an older version of the family patriarch. He now has regrets and wants to make some things right, but it's an uphill battle. Talie Shire and Diane Keaton also reprise their roles from the first two movies. New this time around are Andy Garcia as the young, ambitious nephew...Sofia Coppola as Pacino's daughter...and Eli Wallach as an old rival family don.

final word: A fitting end to the epic crime family trilogy, with things turning out pretty much the only way they can.
