Godzilla vs Kong

release year: 2021
genre: action/adventure
viewing setting: home Bluray 7/7/21

synopsis: Godzilla's gone on a rampage, and humans decide to use Kong to stop him.

impressions: Interesting, and moreso than the last couple, it had some key human involvement in the affairs of giant monsters. Unfortunately, I just don't have much to say about it. The battles were awesome and I enjoyed them, but found myself wanting to fast-forward through any part that had humans plotting, planning, or really doing anything. As in the recent G.I. Joe movies, this one (and its predecessors) take place in a world where a secret, elite government group has all kinds of great technology that no one else knows about. Suspension of disbelief required.

acting: Alexander Skarsgaard is the main guy, Rebecca Hall is the main woman, Kaylee Hottle is her adopted daughter who can talk to Kong. Millie Bobby Brown is back as a teenager who tkes matters into her own hands, and is helped by Brian Tyree Henry (adult conspiracy theorist and over-ambitious podcaster) and Julian Dennison as her friend. Demian Bichir is the evil CEO whose ideas are behind much of the trouble.

final word: Watch this one for the big monster fights.
