Half Past Dead

release year: 2002
genre: action
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/21/03

synopsis: Undercover agent must maintain cover by going to prison with a crimelord, but a whole different group of bad guys is planning a prison break of their own.

impressions: This was a decent action movie, though the Seagal action was minimal. The plot was pretty complex, and the gun-toting kidnappers were fun to watch. My one complaint was that there was too much of a rap element here. I don't know why Seagal thinks that he has to have rappers (and thus rap music) in every movie he makes this decade, but I for one don't like it.

acting: Seagal was ok, but he seems unable to fight like he used to. All of the bad guys were suitably sinister.

final word: Decent action movie with lots of gunplay and hand-to-hand.
