Hellraiser 2: Hellbound

"It is not hands that summon us...it is desire."   - Pinhead

release year: 1988
genre: horror
viewing setting: home streaming 4/2/23

synopsis: Various parties either want to escape the hellacious Cenobites, or venture to their realm; it doesn't work out well for anyone.

impressions: The plot is basically the same - someone who's been taken by the Cenobites begins to return - but this time there's an evil doctor who wants to learn more, plus a lot more scenery from the weird otherworldly place where these things dwell. And a young girl who can solve puzzles and may be the key to anyone getting out of this alive.

acting: Ashley Laurence returns as the innocent daughter in a family with some issues. Clare Higgins is the nasty stepmother, whose turn it is to consume living victims to escape the monstrous ones. Imogen Boorman is a young patient at an insane hospital. Kenneth Cranham is the head doctor, who has his own agenda. Doug Bradley returns as the leader of the maimed demons/devils.

final word: A sequel that adds onto the first one and expands the mythology of the Cenobites.
