Hellraiser 6: Hellseeker

Trevor: "Can you please tell me what the fuck is going on?"
Detective Lange: "I wish I knew."

release year: 2002
genre: horror
viewing setting: home DVD 4/7/23

synopsis: After an auto accident in which his wife is presumed killed and he is rendered amnesiac, a man tries to figure out what happened as really strange things start to happen.

impressions: This was another unraveling mystery type of story, set within the Hellraiser universe. I can't say much more without spoiling things, but it's another tale of a person who at first seems normal and good but actually isn't. Notable elements: the return of Kirsty from the first two movies, scenes of brain surgery and a giant slug coming out of a mouth, the actor who plays the Vulture in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, many more hallucinations and confusion as to what is actually happening versus whether it's imagined or misremembered, a spherical puzzle box, a big twist at the end.

acting: Dean Winters is the memory-impaired guy whose past slowly unravels (literally and figuratively.) Doug Bradley is back as the head demon-creature and as always delivers some great cryptic lines.

final word: Another smaller-scope tale involving the Cenobites but focused on one mortal person/victim.
