Howl

"Do you all wanna die tonight? Cause if you do, you just carry on warning and arguing. And soon enough, that thing out there, he'll take care of it for you."   - Ged

release year: 2015
genre: horror
viewing setting: home Bluray 4/11/16

synopsis: An overnight train has mechanical problems in some remote woods in the middle of nowhere, and there are hungry creatures lurking outside.

impressions: This is a good horror concept that I don't think has been done before: victims stranded in wilderness on a train. The movie was British, so the accents can be a problem at times, which is why the subtitles came in handy. The group of people didn't know each other and didn't really get along, but were eventually forced to work together and try to survive. And there were some unlikeable members of that group. The monsters were mostly kept out of sight, and were pretty well-done, as was the gore.

body count: 8 humans, plus 2 who got turned

acting: Most memorable were Ed Speelers as the main guy, a simple train guard who ends up sort of leading. Holly Weston was the main girl. Elliot Cowan was the selfish, every-man-for-himself passenger.

final word: Good atmospheric werewolf film that takes place entirely at night.
