I Am Wrath

release year: 2016
genre: action
viewing setting: home DVD 8/20/16

synopsis: A regular guy's wife is killed by thugs, but as it turns out, he's not really a regular guy.

impressions: This is John Travolta's Taken or John Wick...he gets to be a dangerous, super-violent guy who would have been fine if left alone. As is typiclal for this sort of movie, there's a lot of violence and bad-ass moments, plus an old friend or two who helps the main guy.

acting: John Travolta looks a little overinflated (like Laurence Fishburne of late) and also perpetually worried, but otherwise does fine in this sort of role. Christopher Meloni is his old friend who proves quite helpful. Patrick St. Esprit is a suspicious-acting mayor. Rebecca De mornay appears just long enough to get killed.

final word: Passable didn't-know-the-guy-was-a-lethal-badass type movie.
