It Waits

release year: 2005
genre: horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 8/24/06

synopsis: An ancient evil spirit is freed, and stalks a lone forest ranger.

impressions: This was decent, though the plot had some minor holes here and there. Basically this thing gets out, kills some people, then finds this troubled woman and begins stalking/taunting her. The monster was mean and vicious, constantly playing games and toying with its prey. The documentary on the DVD discusses the various challenges that the cast and crew had to deal with, and maybe explains some of the quirks of the movie.

something this movie has that no other movie has: A monster who digs up dead bodies and puts them around a dinner table to taunt its prey.

acting: Cerina Vincent does a pretty good job, though as usual her acting is enhanced by the ever-present tank top. Dominic Zamprogna is her boyfriend, and also brings some dramatic effect to the character. Eric Schwieg is a weird Indian who babbles a lot and does some strange things.

final word: Good (but not great) monster-stalking-in-woods horror.
