Jenny Tian: Chinese Australian

release year: 2024
genre: live comedy concert
viewing setting: home streaming 1/24/26

synopsis: This is a live comedy concert starring Asian-Australian comedienne Jenny Tian.

impressions: Like the first one, this was pretty damn funny and entertaining. Being a Chinese woman from Australia, she has a different (to me, anyway) way of speaking and framing things...and it's refreshing. Most of the material in this special covers her career, both before and after she switched to comedy. She gets fairly emotional a couple of times and it feels authentic. As before, she tends to move fast and think on her feet; if a particular joke doesn't get a huge response, she just flows right into the next one. She also uses a presentation and drawings, which are fresh elements in this type of show. Special 1/2026 prediction of the future: I would guess, based on her recent Instagram posts, that her very next show will be all about the United States and all its weird and wacky peculiarities.

final word: Good comedy from a rising star who used social media to make her break.
