John Wick: Chapter 3

John Wick: "Whoever comes, I'll kill them. I'll kill them all."
Winston: "Of course you will."

release year: 2019
genre: action
viewing setting: home Bluray 12/22/21 and 9/10/19

synopsis: After losing his temper at the worst possible moment, super-assassin John Wick finds himself on the run, with those who helped him being punished and everyone else out to get him.

impressions: It's stylish and action-packed, like the first two, but suffers from the problem of getting its hero out of what was made out to be an impossible situation. The rules of the criminal underworld seem to change to suit the whims of the writers of these movies. Still, it had plenty of cool violence and fighting.

acting: As before, Keanu Reeves talks little and kills much; his decision-making over time has now proven inconsistent, which causes him problems. Ian Mcshane is the owner of the secret hotel, Laurence Fishburne is the lord of the bum/street portion of the secret criminal world. Mark Dacascos is a Japanese assassin, and right hand man to a weird roaming judge/jury who calls her/itself the Adjucator, played by Asia Kate Dillon. Halle Berry is an ally from Wick's past. Lance Reddick returns as the concierge at the New York hotel. Anjelica Huston is the leader of a Russian criminal group from Wick's past.

final word: Good violent assassin drama/action, but these are growing harder to follow and less sensible.
