Kissology, volume 1

release year: 2006
genre: documentary/concert
viewing setting: home Bluray 11/11-15/22

synopsis: This collection of KISS concert and other footage spans 1974-1977.

impressions: This first of three KISS collections is basically a ton of live concert footage from their early years, with a few other interviews and performances here and there. The bulk of the concert footage comes from San Francisco 1975 (12 songs), Detroit 1976 (13 songs), Tokyo 1977 (15 songs), and Houston 1977 (17 songs.) As was pointed out to me already, some songs get an awful lot of play in this set e.g. "Firehouse" makes six appearances. Nevertheless, this is probably the best collection of KISS show footage that can be found, and clocks in at a whopping five and a half hours - most of it live performances.

final word: Essential KISS live footage collection from their formative period.
